Just Breath

Let's start simply. Deep breathing is used in a number of relaxation techniques. I can do it whenever I think of it, in almost any situation.
A big deep inhalation through the nose, hold and exhale through the mouth. With the exhalation we can breath out whatever the stress of the moment is. Today for me it was an irritating person with an attitude. I tend to be an emotional magnet. I'm telling myself "It's not about me". Actually that's one of my favorite mantra's lately. It's not all about me. Try it see if it works for you.

  1. Sometimes I need more than deep breathing or counting to ten. I love the fact that I can get in the car and blast my "angry music". I don't even have to drive anywhere! That's mostly because I can't go too far without the children without causing massive panic. :-)

Yesterday was a trying day for me. I have been struggling with my allergies, reacting to the new medication regimen, was feeling much too ill to do my errands, but ventured out anyway. This included picking up the older children, running to the bank, buying new shoes and picking up a couple of staples from the grocery store. Then I added the challenge of doing all this without losing it. It was close, but we survived the lines, the grumpy people who have the luxury of shopping without children, the ones who were insulted that I didn't need their help to parent my children and the ones who insisted that it was really okay for my children to have samples after I've said 'no'. Once we got home, I put the baby in the crib, let the older ones put the food away, told them I was in the bathroom and I sat in the car for five minutes.

Now I'm working on finding my happy place without actually needing to lock myself in the car. :-P

Were you breathing while listening to the angry music in the solitude of you car ;)?
